Prominent Nigerian Pastors and How They Met Their Wives

When it comes to ministry, Nigeria is blessed with numerous pastors, apostles, bishops, and evangelists who are mightily anointed by God. The impact of these men of God on society is truly overwhelming. These ministers are also married to wonderful wives who have played significant roles in shaping them into the men they are today. In this article, we will explore how these great men of God met their wives.

1. Pastor Paul Enenche

Pastor Paul Enenche met his wife, Becky, on campus while they were both studying medicine. At the time, Becky was more like a spiritual daughter to him. However, as time passed, they developed feelings for each other and eventually got married in 1994.

2. Bishop David Oyedepo

Bishop David Oyedepo met his wife when she was 22 years old at a motor park. They dated for five years before getting married in 1982. Her name at the time was Florence Abiola Akano, but after their marriage, David Oyedepo changed her name to Faith Abiola Oyedepo.

3. Apostle Arome Osayi

Apostle Arome Osayi met his wife, Dinna Osayi, in 2001 during one of his missionary trips to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. At that time, Dinna was the secretary of a fellowship and was in another relationship. However, she later shared that God instructed her to end the relationship, which she obeyed. Over time, her relationship with Arome Osayi blossomed, and they got married on October 18, 2008.

4. Pastor Enoch Adeboye

In one of his books, Pastor Enoch Adeboye recounted how he met his wife, Foluke Adeboye, describing it as a divine appointment. He had been in various relationships, but his relationship with Foluke stood out. On his birthday, she gave him a small New Testament Bible and two snow-white handkerchiefs as a gift. The moment he received the gifts, something within him confirmed that she was the woman he was destined to marry. They tied the knot in 1967 when Adeboye was just 25 years old and his wife was 19.

5. Pastor Jerry Eze

Pastor Jerry Eze met his wife, Eno Jerry, while serving as a fellowship executive. He had gone to preach at a campus fellowship where they first connected. Today, they are blessed with two children, a daughter named Samara and a son named Jerry. Eno Jerry hails from Calabar, Cross River State.

6. Reverend Uma Ukpai

In an interview, Reverend Uma Ukpai recounted a remarkable story about how he met his wife. While preaching at an event in Ohio, USA, he prayed for a paralyzed woman, and she was miraculously healed. The girl who had brought the woman to the event then made a shocking demand—she insisted that Uma must marry her or she would shoot both herself and him. After this unsettling encounter, Uma Ukpai went into a month-long period of fasting and prayer. During that time, God revealed to him that his wife was Philomena, a woman from his own village. They got married in 1975.

7. Pastor W.F. Kumuyi

While working as a university lecturer at the University of Lagos, Pastor W.F. Kumuyi also served as a Bible study teacher. During that period, he met Abiodun, one of the 15 people with whom he started a Bible study group in 1973. That small Bible study group later grew into what is now the Deeper Life Bible Church. Kumuyi and Abiodun got married on September 13, 1980, in Lagos. Sadly, Abiodun passed away on April 11, 2009.

On October 13, 2010—exactly 18 months after Abiodun’s passing—Pastor Kumuyi married Folashade Adenike Blaize in London. Folashade had been serving as the administrator of the Deeper Life Bible Church in London before their marriage.

Now you know how these seven great Nigerian pastors met their wives. Their stories reflect divine connections, faith, and the importance of God’s guidance in marriage.
