IS CHANTING TRULY SCRIPTURAL OR VODOO
With the incorporation of chanting in church modern worship, many pastors and believers have attacked it, with some labelling it satanic language in the church. The most prominent of these pastors is Dr. Abel Damina, the founder of Abel Damina Ministries who has called it vodoo.
In the Nigerian church, there are several ministers that are well known with chanting during worship session. Ministers like Theophilus Sunday, Lawrence Oyor and Ebuka songs.
The bible really did not say anything about chanting. The bible only tells us to make a joyful noise unto the lord in Psalm 95. But Dr. Abel Damina did not give room for the holy spirit to interpret to him that chanting is the same with speaking in tongues. There is no difference.
The only difference is that one can decide to speak in tongues in the normal way as it happened on the day of Pentecost and one can still decide to speak in tongues rhythmically, that is in the form of music.
That's, chanting is nothing but speaking in tongues in the form of music. So, there is nothing absolutely wrong with chanting as long as the speaking tongues is of God
