How Smith Wigglesworth Healed Thousands and Raised 23 People From Death

Smith Wigglesworth was one of the most anointed men of God in recent history. Over the years of his ministry, he healed thousands of people worldwide and raised a total of 23 individuals from the dead.

He was born on June 10, 1859, in England. At the age of eight, he was converted by the Methodists. As he grew up, he developed a deep hunger for God and a passion for winning souls. His relentless pursuit of God led him to receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost, and he began speaking in tongues.

Throughout his life, he became renowned for his powerful healing ministry. On one occasion, during a healing service, a man came forward for prayer due to severe stomach pain. Smith, moved by the Holy Spirit, punched the man in the stomach with force—and the man was instantly healed!

On another occasion, he received a message that his friend had died. He rushed to see her lifeless body. Upon arriving, he reached over to where she lay, held her up, and looked into her face. He boldly declared, "In the name of Jesus, I rebuke this death!" Immediately, her body began to tremble. Again, he commanded, "In the name of Jesus, walk!" Not only was she raised from the dead, but she was instantly healed from a terrible illness and began to testify to those around her.

In yet another miraculous event, Smith encountered a woman suffering from multiple tumors and on the verge of death. She was so weak that she could not speak, but she managed to move her fingers. Smith took hold of her hands, lifted them up, and shouted, "In the name of Jesus, death, come out!" Instantly, her body began to move. She was completely healed and got up, walking freely.

Another powerful testimony occurred after he preached at an event in Norway. A man traveled 100 miles to meet him, bringing his own food because he had not been able to pass anything through his stomach for over a month due to a severe cancerous tumor. Smith prayed for him, and he was healed instantly. In front of everyone, the man opened his food parcel and began eating for the first time in weeks.

Smith Wigglesworth performed countless miracles—too many to mention in this short account. However, beyond miracles, he also placed great emphasis on purity and holiness, like all true revivalists. According to him:

"Two things will get you to leap out of yourselves into the promises of God today. One is purity, and the other is faith, which is kindled more and more by purity."

He passed away on March 12, 1947, at the ripe old age of 87, leaving behind an extraordinary legacy of faith, healing, and revival.
