Five Steps to Break Free From Spiritual Husbands and Wives

Spiritual husbands and spiritual wives are powerful and formidable demons responsible for delayed marriages, marital problems, miscarriages, barrenness, prolonged pregnancies, financial debt, and hardship.

These spirits hinder people from experiencing deliverance, victory, financial breakthroughs, good health, academic success, and fruitfulness. Divorcing spiritual husbands and wives can be extremely difficult because they are stubborn and persistent. However, by following the steps below, you can break free from their influence.

1. Give Your Life to Christ

You cannot overcome these demons if you do not have a relationship with Jesus Christ, the Deliverer. He alone has the power to set you free. Turn away from sin, surrender your life to Christ, and invite Him to take full control.

This is the first and most important step to your deliverance. Without it, God will remain distant, and your condition may worsen.

2. Break Every Covenant You Have Made—Knowingly or Unknowingly

Throughout life, we may enter into covenants without fully understanding their implications. These covenants, whether made intentionally or unintentionally, can bind us and open the door to demonic oppression.

Look back and examine your life—was there ever a time you made a vow, agreement, or commitment that might have unknowingly exposed you to spiritual bondage? This could be the source of a spiritual husband or wife’s hold over your life.

Renounce and break these covenants through prayer. Declare that you belong to Jesus Christ alone, and reject any demonic bond that may be affecting your destiny.

3. Seek Deliverance

Spiritual husbands and wives are stubborn spirits that often require corporate spiritual warfare for complete deliverance. You may not be able to fight them alone.

Find a Bible-believing church or ministry that specializes in prayer and deliverance. Seek the help of a genuine man of God who has a divine calling for deliverance. He and his team can stand with you in prayer and spiritual warfare.

4. Take Authority in the Name of Jesus and Declare Your Freedom

James 4:7 says, "Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."

Do not tolerate a spiritual spouse! It is your enemy and has no place in your life. Stand on the authority of Jesus Christ, be bold, and rebuke the demon.

• Never stop praying.
• Never assume the demonic power has defeated you.
• Rebuke it daily—morning, afternoon, and night.

5. Remain Spiritually Alert—Do Not Relax When You See Improvement

Just like a sick person undergoing treatment does not stop medication until fully healed, you must continue in prayer and spiritual discipline even after seeing improvement.

Many people make the mistake of relaxing when they feel better, only to allow the spirit time to regroup and attack again.

• Make prayer your lifestyle.
• Arm yourself daily with the Word of God.
• Stay vigilant and spiritually alert.

When you do this, the enemy will never find an open door to return.

Deliverance from spiritual husbands and wives is possible through Jesus Christ. However, it requires faith, prayer, and persistence. Do not give up! Follow these steps with a determined heart, and the Lord will grant you complete victory.
